School rewards achievers

Best achievers per grade from Grade R to Grade Seven with school teachers and school principal.

Bopang-Kgotso Primary School in Vosloorus held their award ceremony at the Vosloorus Civic Centre on November 1 to reward the achievers.

Headmaster Sipho Fulane said the purpose of the ceremony was to celebrate excellent performance by their learners.

The school has an enrolment of 1 760 learners.

“Out of 1 760 learners, 92 are celebrating with us today.

“Only 12 of them are boys, the rest are girls.

“These are learners who got level sevens (80 to 100 per cent) in their learning areas,” said Fulane.

He added: “I want to assure parents that you did not make a mistake by sending your children to our school.

“Our school is working hard to fulfil the vision set out by Panyaza Lesufi (Gauteng MEC of Education) which is to empower learners with the knowledge that will make them successful in life.

“We want these learners to leave school and go to the world with confidence and positive thinking, with skills that will enable them to conquer every challenge they will face in life.”

The school invited motivational speakers to urge on the learners.

One of the speakers from the district Pinky Sibeko (senior education specialist in foundational phase) said the district is very proud of the school because of their results.

“It is our responsibility to save these children because they are our future doctors, presidents, lawyers and principals of tomorrow.

“If you see them taking drugs during school hours, don’t hesitate to report them, and the school must immediately intervene,” Sibeko said.
