Another mystery body found in the Rietspruit River

Speaking to Kathorus MAIL about the latest gruesome discovery, the clusters media liaison officer, Captain Mega Ndobe, confirmed that the latest findings come less than three months after the decomposed remains of another human body were found floating in the same river a mere kilometre away from where the second body was found on June 19.
The current remains were found still intact except for what Ndobe described as an undetermined hole in the skull. The head of the first body found in May was found severed; the police found it a few metres away from the decaying corpse.
Due to the advanced state of decomposition of the first body, Ndobe explained that detectives investigating the case were still waiting for the pathology forensic report to determine the conclusion of their investigations. He pointed out that all further investigations pertaining to the first body will be directed by the outcome of the forensic results.
Ndobe said this is part of the investigative process which will enable detectives to establish the identity, gender, age, and possibly the cause and time of death of the deceased.
“Through these details, the investigating team will be able to trace the deceased’s next of kin and obtain more information about the deceased before he or she died,” Ndobe explained.
Ndobe rallied members of the community, urging them to come forward and assist the police in their efforts to arrest the person or people responsible for each or both murders. The police also did not rule out the possibility that both or one of the deceased may have been killed elsewhere and the remains dumped in the river to conceal details of the killing or even the killer or killers.
According to Ndobe, the police had not as yet established the identities or the gender of either of the corpses but confirmed that a piece of what appeared to be a dress was found on top of the decaying remains of the second body. “Although we can safely confirm that there appears to be a wound in the skull of the latest remains found on June 19, it is, of course, still too early to speculate about the cause or nature of this wound until the forensic report is completed,” explained Ndobe.
Anyone with information that could lead to the arrest of the person or people possibly involved in any of these cases should please call the Katlehong SAPS on 011 617 3600 or 08600 10111.
