A 26-year-old man was stabbed to death in Thokoza on March 3.

It is alleged that the deceased was trying to separate a group of men having an argument.

Communications officer at the Thokoza Police Station Capt Buyisile Mvelase said the deceased was drinking with friends at a local tavern.

“The deceased saw a group of men who were involved in an argument and tried to intervene. One man from the group took out a knife and stabbed him in the chest,” said Mvelase.

He said the man was rushed to a nearby clinic.

“He was certified as dead on his arrival as a result of the stab wound.”

Furthermore, Mvelase said the Thokoza SAPS started with their investigation which led to a 24-year-old man being arrested.

“The 24-year-old suspect was arrested the following day in Vereeniging for the murder of the 26-year-old man.”

He was detained at the Thokoza Police Station and has appeared in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court on March 6. He is facing murder charges.
